Overview

Reports to: IM Service Support Manager

Functions Supervised: None.

Primary Functions: Ensures that the Credit Unions core infrastructure is meeting all operational performance and reliability targets. Works independently to design, test and develop optimal solutions to escalated problems, tasks, or incidents. May lead assignments or work within cross-functional project or technical teams to design, optimize and apply engineered standards. Participates in monitoring and identifying potential risks, and proactively developing solutions.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  1. Provide technical design and support for the following areas: WAN and LAN connectivity, routers, firewalls, and security. Internal systems, cloud and network infrastructure. Microsoft related technologies: Windows Server, Exchange, SQL, and SharePoint. Virtualization technologies: VMware and Citrix. Remote access solution support: VPN, Terminal Services, and Citrix. Remote monitoring and management of system alerts and notifications.
  2. Work complex technical incidents and problems related to core business solutions, WAN and LAN, servers, cloud and data center infrastructure, routers, firewalls, security, and remote access solutions.
  3. Perform assessments, evaluate new vendors and prepare recommendations.
  4. Participate in the administration and maintenance of the remote monitoring and management system: update and create scripts, respond to alerts, monitor dashboard, and periodic system review.
  5. Work with stakeholders and sponsors to engineer projects and identify new products and solutions.
  6. Participate in the design and documentation of network, security, cloud and data center infrastructure related systems.
  7. Be available for all IM teams and other engineers for troubleshooting of escalated problems and incidents and coach them to resolution.
  8. Write and maintain custom automation scripts to increase system efficiency and lower the human intervention time on tasks.
  9. Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Education: Bachelors Degree in Network Engineering or related degree.

Creditable Experience in Lieu of Education: Equivalent in telecommunications, server and network systems.

Experience/Skills: Ten years experience in engineering and installation of data communication networks including 2 years as a Sr. Network Support Analyst or in a related senior capacity. MCSE certification required. Must be proficient in the configuration and troubleshooting of Cisco routers, switches, and firewalls. Must be familiar with network analyzers and management systems, including Sniffer and Cisco Works. Experience with vSphere, Citrix, SQL, Terminal Services, Exchange, Windows Server, Palo Alto Firewalls, WAN Technology (MPLS, VPN), SteelCentral Aternity, SolarWinds, and Linux or like tools are required. Knowledge of security software and methodologies is essential. Solid scripting skills are a plus.
