Reports to: Assistant Vice President / Senior Loan Originator


Functions Supervised: None


Primary Functions: Originate mortgage loans and promote related programs within the real estate profession and through personal networks.


Duties and Responsibilities:


  1. Completes application including data input and gathers supporting documentation.
  2. Inputs application data into ELC Loan Origination Software (LOS).
  3. Reviews and completes regulatory disclosures with applicants.
  4. Quotes interest rates and secures pricing through the Secondary Marketing Department once licensed.
  5. Utilizes automated underwriting systems (AUS) to obtain credit recommendations.
  6. Collects required application fees.
  7. Communicates with customers, both internal and external, regarding the status of the loan and relays information to all interested parties.
  8. Communications with all parties in a professional and courteous manner.
  9. Manages their pipeline of loans to verify accuracy of the current loan status.
  10. Conducts weekly pipeline reviews with their processor (processor pipeline meetings to be conducted with the SMLO).
  11. Knows and abides by AUMC Mortgage Policies, Procedures, and required job related training.
  12. Conducts mortgage marketing activity including the following: Active marketing of a contact database, conducts branch sales activity, conducts external sales calls, develops and maintains a social media presence, and creates a business plan.
  13. Required participation in AUMC Mortgage and industry events.
  14. Represents the credit union with the highest standards of professionalism.
  15. Obeys all applicable federal laws, rules, and regulations.


Education: High School Diploma or equivalent with minimum of one year in customer service and/or sales experience.

Experience/Skills: Must have or be eligible to obtain a valid NMLS #. Excellent organizational, oral and written communication skills. Ability to perform in a fast-paced environment typical to Mortgage Banking. Working knowledge of Microsoft Office products. Team player, problem solver and self-motivated.
